A seminar to officially launch the co-funded European partnership “Driving Urban Transitions” (DUT) took place on September 26th in the presence of all stakeholders: the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, the Environmental and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), the National Research Agency, the National Agency for Territorial Cohesion, the National Association for Research and Technology, Sustainable City by France and France Urbaine. Approximately 120 people participated in this launch, both at the Ministry’s offices and online.
The seminar focused on the first OTC project calls that opened on September 21, 2022 and will close on November 21, 2022. (see all documents and presentations on the PIN VILLE website)
This new European partnership completes the objectives and mechanisms of the100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030 Mission. Search for available translations of the preceding li, which is also linked to the European framework Horizon Europe. At the European level, 27 countries and 41 European and international funding agencies are joining forces to launch transnational calls for projects to fund research and innovation projects on three thematic pillars (mobility, energy and the circular economy) related to sustainable cities.
The 9 topics of the call 2022 were deciphered so as to give keys to success for the teams submitting projects. The seminar focused on the application procedures (among others, the involvement of actors from at least three different countries linked to the partnership), and on the financing procedures (each country finances its national actors according to the financing rules of the agencies involved).
The annual French budget is 3 million euros for the ANR and 1.5 million euros for the ADEME, with an additional contribution of about 30% from the European Commission for transnational collaboration. This budget places France among the very first financers of the program, and should encourage the national actors to engage resolutely towards this European program at the service of the sustainable city and its citizens.
